Definition:
A chronic syndrome characterized by stiffness and pain in the shoulder caused by inflammation of the joint capsule and adhesions in the synovial membrane. This leads to restriction of movement in all planes, especially abduction, with subsequent tightening and/or weakening of local muscles and other related tissues.
