Unlike the cervical spine, the thoracic spine is the least mobile section mostly due to the binding effect of our ribs which are attached both to the spine and to the sternum at the front. It is therefore less vulnerable to injury unlike the cervical and lumbar segments.
Conditions which often affect the thoracic spine include kyphosis (stooped posture) and scoliosis (twisted spine) and other less common conditions like Scheuermann’s disease, osteoporosis and collapsed vertebrae. Problems with the thoracic spine in additional to spinal pains it can cause pain to radiate to the chest wall and occasionally affecting the diaphragm. Due to our modern living habits, like desk/computer jobs, this section becomes stiff and achy. Do you wake up with a stiff spine; then come and talk to us. Our exercises are safe, effective and easy. You will need us less often if you carry out your prescribed exercise program!
